Elder Kennedy's Mission Scripture

Alma 26:12

"Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever."

Go Chile!

I love this area. We are seeing soo many miracles and I've only been here a week. One of our investigators, Sebastián came to our house on Sunday morning. He knocked on the door and said "take me to church." That was so awesome. But the biggest miracle of all is Daniela and Ben. They were a reference from other Elders. Their story is amazing. Daniela is Chilean but left home and went to the US (New Hampshire) when she was 16 to live with her Aunt. She lived there for ten years and got married to Ben. Together they had been studying all sorts of religions looking for the truth, when they got a feeling that they needed a change. So they prayed about what the should do and saw on the news report of something in Chile and got the feeling that they needed to come here but not knowing why. Elder Stout and I are now teaching them, and they are loving it. We teach them in English since they both know it, and Ben doesn't know very much spanish yet. We put a baptismal date for the 12th of July and they came to church. We know that they have been prepared by the Lord. It is so awesome teaching them.

This Sector is so awesome! I love it. We had a total of 5 investigators in the church this past week. We are also working with the less actives to bring up the attendance, which was 67 yesterday. This place has so much potential. The Lord really has blessed me by putting me here in Villa Sur. I know that with the help of the Lord, we are going to see many many more miracles.

I love the mission. I love this zone OchagavĂa.
I am learning and growing everyday here, and I wouldn't change this experience for anything.

Love,

¡OchagavĂa!

Well, After 6 super fast months in Los Libertadores, I got changed (transferred). I’m gonna miss that ward. I learned so much there. I saw so many miracles there. I am going to miss all the people there. Sebastian, our investigator is going to be baptized next week. I’m so happy for him. Joaquin, an Investigator we found last week read and prayed about the Book of Mormon, got his answer and at his age of 75 with a very serious problem in is knee, he walked to church that very Sunday. After the meeting he went to the Bishop and asked if he could help clean the church on Saturday with the members. And offered to do all the outside cleaning every Saturday so that it be perfectly clean on Sunday. We were so amazed by his willingness to serve and help even though he isn’t even a member yet. He too will be baptized very soon.

I am now in my new area. Still in Stantiago, in a comuna called OCHAGAVĂŤA, and a ward named VILLA SUR. This part of Santiago is known for being pretty ghetto. haha I love it. Its really close to and similar to my first sector (which got taken out of the mission and moved to the south mission). But yeah, our sector is super flaite (ghetto) It’s like being in East L.A. haha I love it. My new companion is Elder Stout from south Jordan Utah. He is super cool. We are gonna take out the trash this change. They tell me that the ward has a few problems, and that there hasn’t been a baptism here in 2 years. Elder Stout and I are gonna change that right around. I’m so happy to be here. I really feel like there are people waiting for us here, and that the Lord trusts us a lot to be able to help this sector.

The World cup is so awesome. It’s hard though, because even on the days Chile doesn’t play, almost no one lets us in to teach when there are games going on. But I love the mission.

I love you all! Read The Book Of Mormon! It really will bring so many blessings to your life.

Love,

Elder Ian Kennedy
